Blue Bar Burglar Arrested by San Francisco Police

Albert Hernandez Jr, was arrested on charges of burglary of private homes in the counties of San Mateo and San Francisco. The arrest was made on the 13th of March after a collective effort by the Millbrae, San Bruno, Pacifica and San Francisco Police.

Hernandez Arrested While Burglarizing San Bruno Home

San Francisco Police arrested Hernandez, 44, while he was burglarizing a San Bruno home. According to Greg Suhr, SF Chief of Police, Hernandez breaks into homes during the day when they are empty.

Hernandez was arrested after he walked out of the home with stolen goods in both hands. The San Francisco Police had earlier spotted Hernandez mapping out homes for future thefts. He was nicknamed the Blue Bar Burglar because of the blue-colored marks left by his crowbar near windowpanes and doors of houses.

Bail Set at $500,000 on Multiple Counts

Hernandez resisted arrest and even assaulted a San Mateo County police officer. He faces multiple charges on battery, grand theft and felony burglary. In a burglary that took place on December 30th in San Francisco, Hernandez was identified as the key suspect. He has a prior record of burglary and was arrested on similar charges 7 years ago.

After his arrest, stolen goods from other burglaries were recovered from both his residences in Daly City and Oakland. The enormous amounts of goods were transported to police headquarters in almost 25 large shopping bags. The goods comprise of jewelery and electronic items such as laptops. Police have uploaded pictures of the goods.

Suhr has acknowledged the arrest to a collective cooperation of law enforcement officers from different cities. According to Karen Guidotti, San Mateo’s District Attorney, Hernandez has pled not guilty to all charges. The pre-trial hearing has been set for next month. Bail has been set at $500,000 on all charges.
