A significant break was announced by George Gascon, San Francisco District Attorney, on the 6th of July in San Francisco regarding the murder of Calvin Sneed. Latest video evidence points in the direction of a conspiracy to murder by the four defendants involved in the case. The video by the FBI surveillance camera shows Antonio Gilton, Alfonso Williams and Barry Gilton, three of the total four defendants on the 1400 block of Grove Street, a short while before the murder.
The parents of the girl, who was allegedly forced into prostitution, were aware that her pimp, Calvin Sneed was in San Francisco. Instead of informing the police of his whereabouts, they choose to take matters into their own hands, the prosecutor said. The DA George Gascon mentioned that the evidence shows that the parents of the girl were more interested in seeking revenge instead of making an effort to protect her. The parents, along with 2 other men, carried out the murder on the 4th of June.
George Gascon’s statement
George Gascon said that there was a very high level of premeditation that took place. Other people were also involved in the case, which strongly suggests that the crime was not one that was irked by passion, he said. The entire incident was a conspiracy to murder, he added.
Defense attorneys mentioned that the girl’s mother Lupe Mercado, 37, and father Barry Gilton, 38, tried to seek help from the authorities to put an end to their daughters exploitation, but in vain. However, Gascon in the press conference mentioned that the parents were aware that Sneed was in San Francisco, based on telephone records. Yet, they did nothing to alert the police, he said.
