Jodi Arias faces potential death sentence if convicted of first degree-murder of Travis Alexander. (June 2008)
Recently a Michigan woman attempted to buy her way into the Jodi Arias Murder Trial in Phoenix. Desiree Lee on Tuesday accepted $200 from an unidentified woman in order to give up her seat. Lee was later ordered to return the money and forfeit her place in line. According to Lee the woman showed interest in being part of the Arias Trial and had no idea she could get into any trouble. Both Lee and the woman got reprimands from the court. The seats are provided on a first-come, first served basis, and nearly four months into the trial we have seen the crowds growing.
Throughout the trial we have seen problems arising from the jury. Earlier this month juror number five also known as Meliha Omanovic was removed from the courtroom for allegedly making comments to other jurors.
As for the trial there is no evidence other than Aria’s own account to support her claims. Psychologist, Janeen DeMarte has told the jurors that during the on-going rebuttal phase Arias suffered from borderline personality disorder. This explains why Arias is unable to remember the day she killed Alexander. DeMarte also testified that Arias doesn’t suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder or amnesia.
The defense team is working hard to request the jurors to consider lesser charges. Many experts explain that this is unlikely since Alexander’s body contained numerous stab wounds.
The trial is to continue today and finally wrap up by next week.
