Can Illegal Immigrants Be Legally Represented?

If you are convicted of a criminal offense, the results can be disastrous. A conviction in a lower court for violating a law, for example, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, can have a negative effect on the illegal immigrant’s  immigration status. Further, if a non-citizen convicted of these offenses attempts to re-enter the country after having been deported permanently, they can be sentenced to prison time of up to twenty years.

If you are in this country illegally and you have been arrested, it does not necessarily mean the court will find you guilty. The Federal or State government has the responsibility of proving beyond a reasonable doubt all the elements of that crime, regardless of citizenship.
