It’s time to celebrate Memorial Day weekend and that also means it’s time for DUI checkpoints in the Bay Area. DUI checkpoints will be counducted throughout the Memorial Day Weekend starting May 24 till the 26th.
Northern California DUI Checkpoints:
San Francisco – Areas of the City – May 24th – May 26th
(Marin County) San Rafael & Novato: The DUI Task Force will conduct DUI and drivers license checkpoints starting Friday that will be held over the course of the Memorial Day weekend throughout Marin County. Focused enforcement will begin at 6 p.m. Friday in Novato.
Lodi- Areas of the City – May 24th – May 26th
Modesto – Areas of the City – May 24th – May 26th
San Jose – – Areas of the City – May 24th – May 26th
As many drivers are well aware, more traffic means more accidents. Memorial Day marks the beginning of the busy tourist season, and many folks enjoy celebrating the three-day weekend with parties that include alcohol.The California Highway Patrol will use all available officers to patrol freeways and county roads throughout the holiday weekend as part of its maximum enforcement period.
Drivers caught driving impaired could face jail time, license suspension and insurance premium increases, in addition to fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.
The following easy steps to have a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend:
– Plan a safe way home before the festives begin
– Before drinking, designate a sober driver and leave your car keys at home
– If you’re impaired, use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation to get home safely
– Use you community’s sober ride program
– Report Drunk Drivers (Call 911)
