San Francisco: Future Archbishop Faces DUI Charges

Shocking to believe, the man who is set to become the future archbishop of San Francisco’s Roman Catholic Archdiocese was arrested in San Diego State University’s Southern edge, on Saturday, August 25th where he was suspected of drunk driving.

Pleaded guilty

Salvatore Cordileone, 56, was accompanied by his 88 year old mother, the two were returning back home after visiting friends over dinner. Cordileone behaved gentlemanly but was found to contain alcohol contents much beyond the legal blood alcohol level of California. He was arrested at midnight and was released at noon the next day after placing a $2,500 bail. He has been requested to appear at the court on October 9th on the misdemeanor charges.

The area where the bishop was caught houses a large number of fraternity and sorority houses and checks are performed every weekend. Cordileone did confess to having consumed alcohol and did not appear to have been falling drunk or retort to any kind of misbehavior.  He has apologized for the error committed and is shameful for the bad name brought upon the church, as reported by the police. He has also promised to repay the debt to society and seek forgiveness from friends and family, as well as co-workers.

Cordileone’s driving records did not reveal any incidents in the past except one for failing to stop the car on approaching a stop sign, last year. If convicted for his latest offensive activity, he could get a sentence to three year probation, a $1,800 fine, 2 days in jail in addition to sobriety counseling. This however will not disqualify him from continuing with his current job or the next one.
