Labor day weekend is coming up so that also mean it’s time for DUI checkpoints in the Bay Area. DUI checkpoints will begin Friday night and throughout the long Labor Day weekend officials will be patrolling for intoxicated drivers. The end of summer and Labor Day weekend is traditionally a time to have fun .
Northern California DUI Checkpoints:
San Francisco – license checkpoints, the enforcement event starts Friday at 8:15 p.m. and ends at 3 a.m. The location will be disclosed 30 minutes before it begins (7:45 p.m.)
San Rafael – A Countywide multi-agency Strike Team will operate on Friday, August 30 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., A DUI/driver’s license checkpoint on Sunday, Sept. 1, starting at 6 p.m., A series of roving patrols searching for drunk and impaired drivers will operate throughout the county on various evenings from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

San Jose – police have set one at an undisclosed location in town for Friday night from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m
Oakland – police have set one at an undisclosed location in town for Friday night from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Drivers caught driving impaired could face jail time, license suspension and insurance premium increases, in addition to fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.
The following easy steps to have a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend:
Plan a safe way home before the festieves begin.
Before drinking, designate a sober driver and leave your car keys at home.
If you’re impaired, use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation to get home safely.
Use your community’s sober ride program.
