53 year old Ramiro Espinoza, who owns a Boutique on 655 West Tennyson Road, Hayward, was found shot dead in his Jewelry store. The incident occurred at around 3:50 pm on August 23rd.
Robbery could be a reason
The Bay Area has been witnessing quite a few such robberies in jewelry stores in the last few months. San Pablo, Newark, and Corte Madera were some of the main targets. Most of the robberies have occurred in the same fashion and in broad daylight. The police received a 911 hang-up call at 3:50 pm and on arriving at the spot, found him shot. Espinoza was found alone in the boutique, so it is not known if there was anyone present at the time he was killed.
The police officers are working closely with the victim’s family in order to find out if anything is missing from the Jewelry store. After seeing the pattern of the robberies that have taken place in the nearby areas, the police is speculating robbery to be the main motive behind this gruesome act.
Two other incidents of shooting reported across the city
3 days after this incident took place; a 43-year old man was shot near his apartment, late at night around 10:30. The Hayward police are also working on investigating a third attempted murder that occurred on Saturday. Two of the wounded victims were returning home at about 10am when the shooting occurred in the 27400 block at Ponderesa Court. One of them was shot as soon as he got out from his car and was walking towards his home, followed by the second one being shot many times inside the car. Both were immediately taken to nearby hospitals and are recovering well.
The police are investigating whether the crimes are related and had been planned by a certain group. But there weren’t any arrests made.
