Monday, a former supermarket employee, Garcia-Torres was booked at a county jail in San Jose on suspicion of kidnapping and murdering Sierra Lamar (15), and will be arraigned Thursday. According to Marlene Lamar the mother of Sierra, her daughter would not have entered the suspect’s car without coercion. Marlene is sure that Sierra, who has been missing for the past two months, would not spend time with anyone like the suspect.
Marlene made a statement at Burnett Elementary School situated in Morgan Hill, where many volunteers showed up to search for clues on where Sierra could be. Laura Torres, Garcia Torres’ mother mentioned that she does not have anything to do with the situation.
DNA from Suspect found on Sierra’s Clothes
Based on reports from authorities, they found Sierra’s DNA in the Volkswagen Jetta that Garcia Torres was driving. Tests also revealed that Garcia-Torres’ DNA was present on the clothes Sierra was wearing on the day she went missing, Her clothes were found close to the bus stop from where she would have traveled to Sobrato High School. Though authorities have not revealed the source of the DNA they stated that it was not blood.
Marlene, who is sure that Garcia Torres kidnapped her daughter, is hoping that Sierra is alive. Her conviction about Garcia Torres’ role comes from the fact that his DNA was found on her daughter’s clothes. Though authorities have not yet found Sierra’s body, they are planning to develop a case of murder against the suspect.
Investigators Watched Suspect
Based on the evidence, investigators ran surveillance on Garcia-Torres from the 28th of March, just two days after Sierra Lamar went missing. They hoped to find Sierra this way. According to investigators, this is a case of abduction and homicide by a stranger. During surveillance, the detectives watched Garcia-Torres from an RV in a park where the suspect lives with his daughter, wife and mother.
