The 12 year-old charged in stabbing a friend to impress the fictional internet Slenderman was deemed incompetent to stand trial Friday. According to court documents after a debate between prosecutors and the defense over whether a competency test would violate Morgan’s Geyser’s rights, the judge asked the girl whether she was competent.
The defendant is standing mute. Dr. Brooke Lundbohm told the Waukesha County, Wisconsin, court that Morgan believes she has mind-control capabilities and can talk to Harry Potter villain Lord Voldemort. She also believes in unicorns and laughed inappropriately and squatted in her chair during her competency review the doctor stated.
Another expert, Dr. Kenneth Robbins, also stated that Morgan wasn’t concerned about a potential long prison sentence, and she said she uses Vulcan mind control of “Star Trek” fame, to fell or believe whatever she wants.
Although both doctors believe that Morgan was not faking, Lundbohm told the court that she could be deemed competent in the future and recommended medication. According to the doctor “She needs to grow up.” A doctor last ruled that Morgan was incompetent, meaning that she is incapable of assisting her attorney in her defense.
The case hearing has been set on November 12th in order to discuss the competency report and found that the defendant is incompetent to proceed at this time, but likely to be competent.
Both Morgan and Anissa Weier are charged as adults with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and both girl’s attorneys are hoping to have their cases returned to the juvenile court system. The Wisconsin law requires any individual of the age of 10 and over to be charged as an adult for severe crimes.
The girls were arrested in May and charged with luring a friend into a wooded area in Waukesha after a sleepover before stabbing her 19 times, authorities said. The suspects then allegedly left the victim to crawl to her own rescue, when a bicyclist found the victim on a sidewalk later in the day. The girl spent six days in the hospital before being released and is now recovering at home, according to her family. Her identity has not been made public.
According to the girls they were trying to please Slenderman, a horror story meme the girls found on a website known as Creepypast Wiki, according to a criminal complaint. One of the suspects told police that Slenderman is the site’s supposed leader and in order to climb into his realm, user’s must kill someone.
